Driver Information Systems

BSIS solution – SafetySide

Blind spots are a major cause of accidents involving buses, coaches and trucks

Blind Spot Information System (BSIS) regulation R151 requires the system to inform the driver of the presence of a nearby cyclist who could be endangered during a turn away from the driver, so that the driver can stop the bus before crossing its path.

The system must also warn the driver, by means of an optical, acoustic or vibratory signal, or any combination thereof, when the risk of collision increases, in order to avoid it.

This regulation will be implemented gradually in Europe, from July 2022 for new types of vehicles and from 2024 for all new vehicles.

Safety Tech developed an innovative system, SafetySide, that meets this R151 standard, and goes further to ensure maximum safety for drivers and road users:

  • Wider detection area from vehicle body work

  • Detection of all vulnerable road users (bicycle, pedestrians, scooters, etc.)

  • Integration in our Smart-Vision Solution without any additional display

  • Available on both sides of the vehicle.
